Google Friend Connect, Facebook Connect, MySpace Data Availability
I am very intrigued about Google Friend Connect and how easy it will be for any web site to add social networking features. I been saying this for awhile now, while social networks have value in terms of bringing my friends together into one site, eventually almost every single web site will have social networking features, it’s already happening.
I think the announcements from Facebook, MySpace and now Google will push this even further. On top of that they will be competing for web sites with turn-key social networking providers like Ning and KickApps.
So Facebook and MySpace had similar announcements last week but there seems to be a difference, at least from what I can tell right now without looking at the implemantations. Facebook and MySpace are trying to own the data and connections where as Google is trying to simply bring different pieces together OpenID, OAuth, and OpenSocial.
